Practice / NOTE 05

Add assurance without changing your stack.

Where an independent review fits between your translation platform and the publish button.

Keep the workflow you have

Most teams already have a translation workflow that works: a management system, an agency or internal translators, a machine translation engine, a review step, a release process. Assurance does not require replacing any of it. It requires one additional step at a specific point — after the localized content is final, before it is published.

Pick the content that carries consequence

Do not review everything. Start with the content where a change in meaning has a cost: terms, policies, consent language, refund and eligibility rules, safety and product instructions, pricing and offer terms. A narrow scope produces a faster review and a clearer record than a broad one.

Agree the constraints once, reuse them

The first review costs the most, because it is where you write down what must remain true: the fixed terminology, the claims that must not get stronger, the conditions that must survive. That brief is reusable. The second release in the same content family starts from an agreed standard rather than from a blank page.

Attach the record to the release

When the review closes, the findings, resolutions, and the named approver travel with the version that was published. Months later, when someone asks why a particular phrasing was accepted, the answer exists in writing instead of in the memory of whoever attended the meeting.

Bring these questions to your next release.
